Planning your trip

This page has some basic information to help you prepare for your trip to the symposium.

Location

Most events will be at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum (Google map or directions). Lodging will be at the AmericInn of Chanhassen.

Driving to the meeting

You can drive to either the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum or the AmericInn of Chanhassen. Shuttles will run from the AmericInn to the Arboretum beginning at 3pm. If you drive directly to the Arboretum, plan to arrive Tuesday in time for a 5pm social hour and gathering there. Beginning at 8pm, shuttles will return to the AmericInn. On Wednesday morning, shuttles will run from the hotel to the Arboretum. If you prefer to drive your own vehicle to the Arboretum, see the directions above. It's about a 4-mile trip.

Flying to the meeting

Purchase flights to and from Minneapolis-St Paul International Airport (MSP).

We'll provide shuttle service between MSP and the AmericInn of Chanhassen and the Arboretum. Download the (revised) shuttle schedule and roster here.

If you plan to rent a car and drive on your own, here are directions from MSP to the hotel and directions from MSP to the Arboretum. (To drive back to MSP, you can create reverse directions from either of those links.)

Transportation during the meeting

We'll provide shuttle service between the hotel and the Arboretum for all symposium events. All participants are encouraged, but not required, to use the provided shuttle service.

Lodging

Lodging will be at the AmericInn of Chanhassen, about 4 miles from the Arboretum. On April 3 I'm going to send a list of names and room reservations to the hotel. Please reply before April 3 to confirm which nights you will need hotel lodging. Also, if you're willing to share a room (you can see a list here), please let us know.

Stretching your legs

Your best opportunity for a scenic walk or run during the symposium will be Wednesday afternoon between the end of our meetings (5pm) and dinner. We plan to send one shuttle back to the hotel immediately after we wrap up, but to delay the other shuttle to accommodate those who would like to get some exercise. The Arboretum has a beautiful 3-mile trail system which I highly recommend exploring.
