Hi Eli,

Glad my profile was appreciated - when I had a quick peek at those of others, I was worried that I had been a little long-winded!

I would love to fill you in on my research, though I have to say that I'm very early on in the process (only 8 months into the PhD at this point). And, by all means, we can chat about EAB as well, though I'm not an expert in that department, by any stretch of the imagination.

I am studying at the Guelph campus - and, you're absolutely right . . . it's a very long way from Kemptville! I've been doing the commute weekly, but thankfully my coursework is now done, and I'll be making the trip less frequently. I'm not sure I'll be making a trip to Guelph between now and the symposium, but let me know what size of T's you'd like, what colour(s), and how many, and I'll see what I can do!

Fingers crossed that my passport comes through!

All for now,
Elizabeth

Eli - Thanks for the welcome. To quote the Wild Ones website: "Wild Ones: Native Plants, Natural Landscapes promotes environmentally sound landscaping practices to preserve biodiversity through the preservation, restoration and establishment of native plant communities. Wild Ones is a not-for-profit environmental education and advocacy organization." Our local St. Croix (river valley) Oak Savanna chapter, which meets monthly in historic Stillwater, provides opportunities for people to share ideas and information about native plants, native habitats and landscaping with native plants. We have presentations on native plants at most of our meetings and also sponsor a number of field trips to sites which highlight rare species, native plant community restorations, and visits to growers of native plants. There are lots of opportunities for peer-to-peer learning at meetings, conferences and field trips. A number of the members of our Wild Ones chapter are plant professionals and/or active in community natural resource projects.

Eli,
Yes, I was there- sorry we didn't get to chat. Nice job bringing folks together on the WON. I plan to share the site with my forest policy students in the fall- a great example of a grassroots tool connecting woodland owners, academics and dirt foresters.
